AKSOFOL is pink in color, round shaped flat chewable tablets with vanilla flavour.

Plain on both sides. Aksofol Chewable tablet is a combination of Myo-inositol & L-Methyl Folate

Myo-inositol
Inositol is a sugar made in the body and found in foods( such as cereals, corn, meat, citrus fruits, and legumes).
It can be found in nine forms. Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are most common in supplements.
Inositol might balance certain chemicals in the body to help with mental conditions such as panic disorder, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It might also help insulin work well.
People use inositol for metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and for reducing the risk of preterm birth. It’s also used for insomnia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support most of these uses.

L-Methyl Folate :
L-methylfolate is a form of folate, or vitamin B9, that can help regulate serotonin and dopamine levels. Because these chemicals aect mood, some people believe taking l-methylfolate may help with depression The effectiveness of l-methylfolate may depend on various factors, including whether or not someone has a folate deficiency. People with a deficiency may feel the biggest benefit.
Another factor is variations in the MTHFR gene. This gene influences how the body methylates nutrients, including folate. Some people have variants of the gene that make it more difficult for the body to convert folic acid into l-methylfolate, so if they have a deficiency, they may also feel a benefit Trusted Source in taking l-methylfolate supplements. However, it is worth noting that most people can get enough of this nutrient from their diet. It occurs naturally in foods such as leafy greens and legumes. Folic acid also appears in some fortified foods, such as bread and cereals. When a person gets folate from food, the body has to convert it into l-methylfolate to use it inside cells. However, when individuals take l-methylfolate in a supplement, this process is unnecessary. This makes l-methylfolate more bioavailable than other types of vitamin B9, such as folate or folic acid.L-methylfolate is essential Trusted Source for:
• cellular function
• DNA synthesis
• methylation, a process where a methyl group adds to DNA, proteins, or other molecules
• producing neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine

Askofol tablet ( because of L-METHYLFOLATE CALCIUM as one of the master ingredient) is prescription for the clinical dietary management of the metabolic imbalances associated with depression and schizophrenia. Use under medical supervision.

Myo-inositol:
Possibly Eective for

A grouping of symptoms that increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke (metabolic syndrome). Taking Aksofol Tablets (inositol) by mouth, with or without
alpha-lipoic acid, seems to improve insulin resistance, cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure in people with metabolic syndrome.
• A hormonal disorder that causes enlarged ovaries with cysts (polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS). Taking Aksofol Tablets (inositol) by mouth seems to lower triglyceride levels,
decrease blood pressure, and improve blood sugar, ovulation, and pregnancy rates in people with PCOS.
• Preterm birth. Taking Aksofol Tablets (inositol) with folic acid by mouth during pregnancy seems to lower the risk of preterm birth in those who have a higher chance of developing diabetes during pregnancy.

L-Methyl Folate:

Adjunctive Use In Major Depressive Disorder, Aksofol Tablets is indicated for the distinct nutritional requirements of individuals who have suboptimal l-methylfolate calcium levels in the cerebrospinal fluid, plasma, and/or red blood cells and have major depressive disorder (MDD) with particular emphasis as adjunctive support for individuals who are on an antidepressant.
• Adjunctive Use In Schizophrenia Aksofol Tablets is indicated for the distinct nutritional requirements of individuals who have or are at risk for hyperhomocysteinemia and have schizophrenia who present with negative symptoms and/or cognitive impairment, with particular emphasis as an adjunctive support for individuals who have stabilized on antipsychotics.
• Aksofol Tablets l-methylfolate calcium is indicated regardless of MTHFR C677T polymorphism genotype.

Myo-inositol:

When taken by mouth: Inositol is possibly safe for most adults when used for up to 10 weeks. It might cause diarrhea, gas, and nausea in some people.

L-Methyl Folate:

Some of the side eects people have reported when taking l-methylfolate include:

• anxiety
• agitation
• digestive symptoms

This supplement may also interact with preexisting medical conditions. For example, if someone takes large amounts of folate, it can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency.
Folate does this by correcting anemia, relieving a person’s symptoms, but without addressing the underlying problem. This can be harmful, as vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to nerve damage over time.

Myo-inositol:

When taken by mouth: Inositol is possibly safe for most adults when used for up to 10 weeks. It might cause diarrhea, gas, and nausea in some people.
When applied to the skin: There isn’t enough reliable information to know if inositol is safe or what the side eects might be.
Pregnancy: Inositol is possibly safe when taken by mouth, short-term. Doses of up to 4000 mg of myo-inositol daily have been used with apparent safety.
Breast-feeding: There isn’t enough reliable information to know if inositol is safe to use when breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.
Children: Inositol is possibly safe when taken by mouth for up to 12 weeks in children ages 5-12 years old.

L-Methyl Folate:

General

• Folic acid, when administered in daily doses above 0.1mg, may obscure the detection of B12 deficiency (specifically, the administration of folic acid may reverse the hematological manifestations of B12 deficiency, including pernicious anemia, while not addressing the neurological manifestations).l-methylfolate calcium may be less likely than folic acid to mask vitamin B12 deficiency.Folate therapy alone is inadequate for the treatment of a B12 deficiency.
• A major depressive episode may be the initial presentation of bipolar disorder. It is generally believed, (although not established in controlled trials) that treating such an episode with an antidepressant alone may increase the likelihood of a precipitation of a mixed/manic episode in patients at risk for bipolar disorder. Aksofol Tablets is not an antidepressant; however, 5-MTHF has been shown to enhance antidepressant eects of known antidepressants.

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of bipolar illness. Patients with depressive symptoms should be adequately screened to determine if they are at risk for bipolar disorder since mood elevation in this population is possible.

Myo-inositol:
Moderate Interaction
Be cautious with this combination
Medications for diabetes (Antidiabetes drugs) interacts with INOSITOL. Inositol might lower blood sugar levels. Taking inositol along with diabetes medications might cause blood sugar to drop too low. Monitor your blood sugar closely while taking Aksofol tablets.

L-Methyl Folate:
Interaction with Drugs
Aksofol tablets contains L-Methylfolate Calcium( folate). which may have interactions the following:

Antiepileptic drugs (AED): The AED class including, but not limited to, phenytoin, carbamazepine, primidone, valproic acid, phenobarbital and lamotrigine have been shown to impair folate absorption and increase the metabolism of circulating folate. Additionally, concurrent use of folic acid has been associated with enhanced phenytoin metabolism, lowering the level of this AED in the blood and allowing breakthrough seizures to occur.

Capecitabine: Folinic acid (5-formyltetrahydrofolate) may increase the toxicity of Capecitabine.

Dihydrofolate Reductase Inhibitors (DHFRI): DHFIs block the conversion of folic acid to its active forms, and lower plasma and red blood cell folate levels. DHFIs include aminopterin, methotrexate, pyrimethamine, triamterene, and trimethoprim.

Fluoxetine: Fluoxetine exerts a noncompetitive inhibition of the 5-methyltetrahydrofolate active transport in the intestine.

sotretinoin: Reduced folate levels have occurred in some patients taking isotretinoin.

Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): NSAIDs have been shown to inhibit some folate dependent enzymes in laboratory experiments. NSAIDs include ibuprofen, naproxen, indomethacin and sulindac.

Oral Contraceptives: Serum folate levels may be depressed by oral contraceptive therapy.

Methylprednisolone: Reduced serum folate levels have been noted after treatment with methylpredinisolone.

Pancreatic Enzymes: Reduced folate levels have occurred in some patients taking pancreatic extracts.

Pentamidine: Reduced folate levels have been seen with prolonged intravenous pentamidine.

Metformin treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes decreases serum folate.

Warfarin can produce significant impairment in folate status after a 6-month therapy.

Folate supplements also can interact with some medications, including:
• methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall)
• phenytoin (Dilantin), carbamazepine (Carbatrol), and valproate (Depacon)
• sulfasalazine (Azulfidine)

Anyone taking these or other medications can speak with a doctor before taking l-methylfolate.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
(NOTE: Do not engulf tablet with water, this is a chewable tablets)

Myo-inositol:
daily. It’s often taken together with 200-400 mcg of folic acid daily. Speak with a healthcare provider to find out what dose might be best for a specific condition

L-Methyl Folate:
Usual adult dose is 7.5mg to 15mg given daily with or without food or as directed under medical supervision during depression.
In a trial study a researchers used the different strategy & design with 75 adults who received 15,000 mcg of l-methylfolate daily plus SSRI medications for 60 days. Found l-methylfolate significantly improved depressive measures compared with the SSRI plus placebo treatment.
Therefore, on view of above doses and a survey on different articles as a supplement the recommended dose for AKSOFOL CHEWABLE TABLET is one to two tablets per day after meal or as directed by the physician/your diet supplement advisor.
